White House Press Secretary

The White House Press Secretary is a senior White House official who works under the White House Communications Director and the Deputy White House Chief of Staff for Strategic Planning. The Press Secretary is the primary spokesperson for the Administration.
C.J. Cregg was the first woman to serve as White House Press Secretary in two different presidential terms before taking over as White House Chief of Staff.[1]
This position remained vacant after 2005 when the White House Communications Director took over press briefings.[2]
The Santos Administration planned to keep the position vacant when they took over in 2007.[3]
