POTUS in a Bicycle Accident was a major plot point in the episode Pilot and refers to the President Bartlet crashing a bicycle he borrowed from Leo McGarry.

President Bartlet received a call from his eldest daughter regarding his granddaughter. His granddaughter had provided an opinion to a magazine about her personal stance on abortion. In response to this opinion, the group the Lambs of God send her a "Raggedy Anne Doll with a knife stuck through its throat".
Furious about the news, the President got on the bicycle and, disregarding his wife's attempts to dissuade him, rode it. Sometime into the ride, the President crashed the bicycle into a tree. As Leo described it, he "came to an arboral stop". His embarassment was heightened when, ignoring the offers of aid from Secret Service agents, the President fell down again.
The President suffered a torn ligament in his kneee and missed most of the next day's events in the West Wing. When he did arrive, it was to a meeting with representatives of the Christian community discussing a gaf by Josh Lyman. Explaining his story to the group, the President was able to order Rev Al Caldwell to condemn the Lambs of God for their actions.[1]
