- NBC will not show the proposed retrospective because of financial disputes with cast members [4].
- Rob Lowe will reprise his role of Sam Seaborn on the show for some last episodes [5].
- The West Wing will return March 12th with The Cold.
- NBC announced on January 22 that the series will end Sunday, May 14.
- John Spencer, who played Leo Thomas McGarry - former White House Chief of Staff for President Bartlet and current running mate for Democratic presidential nominee Matthew Santos - died Friday, December 16, 2005. He was 58.

- Rob Lowe has been rumored to make a West Wing comeback if this is the show's last season.
