Senator Max Lobell (R) is a powerful member of the United States Senate and an occasional ally to President Josiah Bartlet. Despite the fact that they have completely different views on most social issues, Lobell and Bartlet agreed to work together to get candidates who supported campaign finance reform on the Federal Election Commission. Lobell was impressed by Bartlet only offering his gratitude in exchange for his support.
He was also a member of the Group of 8 who was notified by Leo McGarry and Admiral Percy Fitzwallace that the President may assassinate Abdul Shareef.
