[edit] Professional Life
Margaret worked on the Bartlet campaign and was in charge of assigning volunteers before becoming secretary to Leo McGarry and later C.J. Cregg.
Margaret is generally rather eccentric and exhibits a number of personality quirks. She once revealed to Leo that she has been practicing the President's signature "just for fun", much to Leo's dismay. Despite her sometimes quirky behavior, Margaret is highly competent at her job and exhibits unconditional loyalty to Leo. After she was promoted to Chief of Staff, C.J. commented that she found the fact that Margaret is also tall to be "reassuring".
[edit] Personal Life
Little is known about Margaret's personal life. In Season 6, she became pregnant, though the identity of the father was never revealed.
She once mentioned that she has relatives in Canada.

"Apparently your response to Donna's perfectly legitimate concern about the White House not supporting OSHA's recommendation regarding Repetitive Stress Injuries was 'Type slower.' Donna has organized most of the assistants in the White House to do just that."

"I say we should've gone in there with four tank divisions and turned the place into a casino."
