Karen Browning

Karen Browning was the Secretary of the Treasury during President Bartlet's second term between January 2003 and January 2007. She made a television news conference on the events of the Middle Eastern peace deal and it's reaction on the Hill. Bartlet and his staffers were not pleased with her break from ranks.
Browning was born in Columbus, Georgia in 1948. She graduated Yale University with a degree in Economics in 1972, and received her MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1974.
From 1974 to 1987, Ms. Browning worked at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. She joined the Newman Administration in 1987 as Assistant U.S. Secretary of the Treasury. In 1991, she returned to Wall Street as a Vice President of Lehman Brothers, where he retired as Deputy Chairman in 2002.
