John W. Wesley

John William Wesley (1940-) is an evangelical minister with a degree in the Southern Baptist denomination. Wesley along with Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson is condiderd to be a leader in the conservative evangelical movement. In 2002, Wesley launched a bid for the Republican nomination for President of the United States. Although Wesley had never sought polictical office before he made a strong showing in several southern states to Robert Ritchie in most but managed to win only in Mississippi, although he was a strong second place in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.
