Janel Moloney portrayed Donna Moss during the entire 7-year run of the series. She auditioned for the role of C.J. Cregg and was given the role of Donna in the Pilot Episode, which was supposed to be a one episode character. However, after noticing the chemistry Moloney had with co-star Bradley Whitford she became the only recurring character to appear in every episode of Season 1 and was upgraded to a regular by Season 2.
She was nominated for an Emmy for her role in 2002 and 2004. She is an active Democrat during the 2004 election and supported John Kerry.
