Category talk:Politicians
From West Wing Wiki
"Politicians" in regards to this category, should be a person who holds a political office (higher than a simple political staff office). People should go into the subcategories (Governors, Representatives, Presidents and the like), and only be included in this category if they held a political office not covered.
For example, Josiah Bartlet is categorized as a President of the United States (which he was from 1999 to 2007). He is also categorized as a Governor (which he was from 1993 to 1999). Furthermore he is categorized as a "Politician" because he held other political posts (such as "New Hampshire State Board of Education") which may be unreasonable to subcategorize at this time.
Those who didn't hold political posts, but ran for one and lost (such as Sam Seaborn or Doug Westin) should also be included as "Politicians."
White House Chief of Staff is often regarded as a high-political post (Cabinet-level, high up on the order of preference), so those who hold that position should be regarded as "Politicians." As there are only 3 known (at this time), it shouldn't be subcategorized. It could also be categorized under Category:White House staff.
This is just my thoughts on the subject, please feel free to contribute/rebuke/beat me up over it.--Tim Thomason 18:58, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
